Key Responsibilities

Job Title: Sewing Machinist Responsible To: Workroom Supervisor & Garment Technologist Description: To make garments from cut work within a busy workroom environment, using a variety of sewing machines ROLE Main Responsibilities include: · Sewing garments · Hand sewing (basic) · Preparing machine by changing needles and thread; securing attachments · Braiding · Using other types of machines (for example) Basting Zig-Zag Blind Hemmer Overlocker Button Hole Machine Pressing Equipment · Maintains quality by inspecting finished product/ work · Adhere to all company policies, procedures, business code of ethics and other company requirements · Undertaking any other tasks/duties as may be reasonably required Liaison: · Liaise with cutting department on business related matters as required. · Demonstrate an ability to interact and cooperate with all company employees. KPIs: Monthly efficiencies in maintaining and processing workload to achieve targets. Maintaining a good efficient and effective relationships with both colleagues and customers.

Essential Requirements

CRITERIA Experience: · Experience in a similar role, which demonstrates practical and interpersonal skills · Apprenticeship would be considered Aptitudes: · Excellent verbal and good basic standard of written communication skills · Understanding of garment construction · Competency in understanding garment specifications · Attention to detail and accuracy · A solid understanding of cloths and braids · Good organisational skills · Sound numeracy and basic computer literacy · Able to work systematically and use own initiative · A commitment to continuous quality improvement · Ability to work independently as well as part of a team · Must demonstrate a strong sense of customer focus · Results/task orientated · Excellent time management Person: · Committed to the delivery of excellence of customer service · Personable · Reliable, honest and committed · Confidential and discrete approach · Calm manner, able to work under pressure and against rapidly changing demands and priorities · Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team · Must be a team player
