An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Commercial Manager Flexibility Services to join our Policy and Markets Team. Reporting to the Head of Policy Development, this position provides a unique development opportunity as we transition to a smarter, more flexible energy system. The main purpose of this role is to develop and deploy our new range of flexibility services through liaison with the external market and lead the end-to-end business process internal changes. Ensure Northern Powergrid delivers on its high profile external commitments to make changes today as well as plan our development path into embracing more flexibility services and thereby support regional decarbonisation at least cost for customers.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
Define, scope and deliver commercial development projects associated with the introduction of DNO customer flexibility where we ask customers to help us manage the grid. Create industry leading thinking on the opportunities and obligations that result from continuing evolution of the electricity market and the more flexible, smarter system. Ensure that we remain compliant with our regulatory obligations and business plan commitments to introduce customer flexibility. Establish robust working processes to embed distribution system operation (DSO) in our standard ways of working. Develop and deliver flexibility provider stakeholder engagement programs in order to ensure that our developments are in step with our stakeholders’ needs. Ensure that relevant regulatory and government consultations and information requests are delivered to the required quality and agreed timescales. Represent Northern Powergrid on national working groups and in industry interactions to develop standardised whole system solutions.

Essential Requirements
Essential Qualifications and Experience Qualified to degree level and / or proven job related experience. Commercial role experience in the energy industry. Engaging with policy makers and industry parties to influence policy development and deliver projects. Leadership of initiatives across an organisation. Project Management – converting high level policy and direction into realistic internal deliverables and action plans. Advanced IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office. Financial budget management.
