Key Responsibilities

Main Duties Ability to develop curricula, CPD, and modules in Civil Engineering, infrastructure, restoration and rehabilitation of structures and critical infrastructures according to the programme. Delivery of lectures. Develop the Massive Open Online Course and similar Technology Enhanced Learning materials, CPDSs and deliver materials for Microcredentials as described by the programme. Supervision of research and educational activities relevant to the programme. Be able to travel to Ukraine to identify and assist a number of Ukrainian universities to update existing or develop new syllabuses. Develop novel methodologies and techniques appropriate to the type of the educational activities pursued. Pursuing personal research, including developing research ideas, and acquiring support, including financial support around the scope of the MOOC, CPDs, Microcredentials and other education-related activities of the programme. Supervise and examine MSc students, while promoting a culture of inclusion and diversity Developing and contributing significantly to knowledge transfer, enterprise (including business engagement, public engagement) and similar activities that benefit the College, University, and broader diverse communities. Disseminating best practices through suitable media. Making a significant contribution to some administrative activities of the programme Developing and making contributions to knowledge transfer, enterprise, business engagement, public engagement, widening participation, and outreach whilst promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion. Developing a number of new taught modules in structure and infrastructure engineering and programme proposals and making substantial contributions to the design of teaching programmes in the Department or School, incorporating EDI principles. Teach courses at a range of levels within specified subject area and within own area of subject specialism to undergraduates, postgraduates and CPD students, predominantly through allocated lectures and seminars, so that the programme’s teaching objectives are met. Contribute to the design of modules with other colleagues. Plan and prepare own teaching, including guidance notes and handouts in accordance with the established objectives of the teaching programme. Devise and supervise projects, student dissertations and practical work. Develop an approach to planning and reviewing own teaching. Undertake full range of responsibilities in relation to supervision, marking and examining. (Summative assessment, including assessed work contributing to the final award – as a mark or as a credit – such as unseen examinations, essays, dissertations or presentations, is subject to validation by the academic supervisor.) Frequently update own subject expertise with research relevant to own area of expertise. Undertake personal professional development in teaching, including self-reflection on own teaching, using student and peer review feedback, to enhance own teaching and learning processes. Contribute to knowledge transfer on own specialism that is of manifest benefit to the College and the University, often under supervision of a project leader. Undertake management/administration arising from teaching. Contribute to Departmental/School teaching-related activities and teaching-related administration. Contribute to enterprise, business development and/or public engagement activities of manifest benefit to the College and the University, often under supervision of a project leader. Essential Requirements

Background To teach and advise undergraduate, postgraduate and CPD students within own subject area and within a programme, managed supervised by member of staff with ultimate responsibility for the design, delivery and assessment of the programme, the MOOC, CPDs and Microcredentials as described by the programme. To facilitate the delivery of the research and capacity-building programmes relevant to the programme. Role Summary Teaching within own subject area within an established programme, under the supervision from an academic member of staff. Contribute to generating funding and may: a) contribute to enhancement of the student experience or employability or integration to the country of origin (Ukraine); b) contribute to designing MOOC and CPD programmes for clients external to the University and similar; c) contribute to deliver CPD programmes, consulting on own specialism and the like, often under the supervision of a project leader. Contribute to licensing or spin out deals with demonstrated commercial success (such as revenues, asset or company sales, IP generated) and/or public understanding of the discipline or similar. Person Specification Speaks fluently Ukrainian and English (Desirable for the delivery of the project) Hold PhD in Civil and/or Structure and/or Infrastructure and/or Environmental Engineering and/or Architecture Has knowledge and can apply Eurocodes for the design of structures and infrastructure Higher degree relevant to research or teaching area or equivalent qualifications High level analytical capability Ability to design and deliver module materials successfully Ability to assess and organise resources effectively Understanding of and ability to contribute to broader management/administration processes Knowledge of the protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010, and how to actively ensure in day to day activity in own area that those with protected characteristics are treated equally and fairly.
